About us

My name is Jayda Zeller, and I am the founder and sole maker behind Juniper Velvet.

I began sewing when I was twelve years old, after my aunt bought me my first sewing machine, one that still runs today. From the start, I was captivated by the act of making something beautiful by hand. I spent years sewing, learning, and experimenting, and I became especially drawn to costumes and the way clothing could tell a story. As a child, I loved the moments in films and television when a character received a new outfit and something about them visibly changed. That feeling of transformation never left me.

Juniper Velvet grew from that lifelong love of fantasy, storytelling, and craftsmanship. Every piece is designed and sewn by me alone, from the first sketch to the final stitch. Because this is a one person studio, it is often easiest for me to design and photograph garments on my own body, which means you may notice a consistent size represented on the site. This is simply a practical choice, not a limitation.

Any piece can be recreated to your measurements at no additional cost. Bodies are not custom. Clothing should fit the person wearing it, and fit is an essential part of how a garment comes to life.

Production at Juniper Velvet is intentionally slow and meticulous. Each piece is made with care, and no two garments are ever exactly the same. Variations in fabric, construction, and detail are part of the process and part of the magic. In addition to made to order pieces, custom commissions are always welcome for those who want something entirely their own.

Juniper Velvet is for dreamers, romantics, and anyone who wants to feel like they have stepped into a story, one that is made just for them.
